Trick for Early Upgrades on Family Talk Plans

Not 100% sure of other companies, but Cingular will allow you to get a discount on a phone by signing a new contract, but only if you've had it for 21 months.
If your phones bill says that you've paid over $75 for monthly service for the past 3 months though, you can get an "early upgrade" if you've had your phone for at least 12 months.
Now what if you have a family talk plan? The "secondary lines" are only like $9.99 (or $19.99) and therefore will not be eligible for early upgrade. Unless you do this trick:
Have the primary line get the new phone after the 12 months. Then switch it to be one of the "secondary lines" then after 3 months, you can upgrade it, then switch it to a secondary line, then 3 months later upgrade your next line, and then your last line in another 3 months.  This would get you 4 new phones in 9 months.  Now the best part is after the 4th lines gets upgraded, you can move the original phone back to the primary line, and by the time you've had it one year, it's eligible to upgrade again.
